Summer Camp Counselor
 

Do you love to work with children?  Here is your chance!  We are looking for quality people who can help us provide a safe, fun, active & nurturing environment for kids.  The Island Recreation Center is seeking energetic, outgoing people to work in our summer camp.  Candidates must enjoy working with children ages 5-12 and be able to work in multiple settings playground and classrooms.  Flexibility and ability to adjust to varying situations is needes with creativeness, patience, understanding, co-operation, and common sense.

 

Responsibilities:

1.    Provide leadership and guidance to the campers

2.    Provide the campers with a positive environment

3.    Participate in setting up the programs, schedules of the day, week, and month, and overall operations of the camp

4.    Ability to motivate, lead, guide, and teach children in the camp setting

5.    Take part in creating camp programs including arts and crafts, games, sports, environmental activities, and special events

6.    Maintain the highest standards of health and safety by keeping the campers in mind at all times

7.    Keep record of attendance of all the campers at all times

8.    Attend all required staff meetings and functions

9.    Participate and assist in pool programs

10. Represent the Island Recreation Center as a role model of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility

11.  Always be customer service oriented and adhere to all Island Recreation Center standards. Including wearing uniform whenever participating or leading Island Recreation Center activities

 

Monday – Friday

*Salary based upon experience $7.00-$10.00/hour

Swim Instructor

Job Description:
Great opportunity to work with children! Strong customer service skills required. Instructors teach learn-to-swim lessons for, toddlers and children of all ages.


Requirements:
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications. Must attend in-service training. Must be kind, energetic and easy going. Background in swimming is preferred but not mandatory. Just enthusiasm for working with children and making a difference.

Lifeguard

Job Description:
Lifeguards are responsible for overall safety in the pool, preventing accidents and injuries, and treating injuries with first-aid. Strong swimming skills required for lifeguards. Teaching swim lessons is expected. Strong customer service skills needed also.

Requirements:
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, First Aid and CPR/AED Certifications. Must attend in-service training.

 

The ideal persons for these jobs will also be:
Ambitious, Self- Motivated, Reliable, Organized, Team Player, willing to go above and beyond, be able to follow directions, work well with children and their parents. Background check will be run on applicants.
