Come join sailing legend John Rumsey and learn the art of sailing in the beautiful waters of Skull Creek in Hilton Head Island. Participants of any level are welcome and encouraged.
John Rumsey learned to sail in San Francisco Bay in the 1950s. He then joined North Sails in 1960 and moved to San Diego made sails and participated in many International Regattas. John moved to Hilton Head Island in 1977 to own and run Palmetto Bay Marina. John has participated in 17 Trans Pacific races (California to Honolulu and Tahiti) and 5 TransAtlantic Crossings. He is the winning Skipper of the 1982 Maxi Boat World Championship in 1986, Captain of the Square Rigged Ship HMS Bounty for Turner Broadcasting (1986-1990), has been an ambassador for the Sailing Community for Hilton Head Island since 1996, where he co-founded the Hilton Head Island Community Rowing and Sailing Center. John has over 50 years experience and is a household name in the international Sailing industry.
Requirments: closed-toed shoes, sunscreen, life jacket (one will be provided if you don't have your own), no crocs, *must be able to swim
